Accurate identification and occurrence of methicillin resistant staphylococci and Enterobacteriaceae producing extended-spectrum betalactamases in healthy dogs in Sweden
This is a joint project between Anicura (Ulrika Grönlund) and SVA (Stefan Börjesson and Lotta Gunnarsson). The project is funded by Anicura's Research Fund
This study focuses on carriers of specific antimicrobial resistant bacteria and it is divided into two parts; quality improvement of bacteriology diagnostics within AniCura and occurrence including risk factors of antimicrobial resistant bacteria in healthy dogs in Sweden. The aim of study 1 is to increase knowledge and assure a high quality in analyzing specific notifiable antimicrobial resistant bacteria; Enterobacteriaceae producing extended-spectrum betalactamases(ESBL) including ESBLCARBA, methicillin resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (MRSP) and methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The purpose of study 2 is to investigate occurrence and risk-factors of these bacteria among healthy dogs in Sweden.
