Contagious keratoconjunctivitis in reindeer, studies of causes, prophylaxis and treatment
Outbreaks of keratoconjuctivitis has been known to occur in semi-domesticated reindeer in the Nordic countries since over a century. The underlying causes are not fully understood. The study aims to sample affected reindeer during outbreaks, to analyse for bacteria and virus, as well as look at possible underlying causes for the outbreaks. Treatment of affected reindeer will be done to improve animal welfare, and the effect of treatment is to be noted as well.
